Dainty Doll Haul | Foundation, Lipstick + Blusher.

Even though Amazon have kind of been avoiding their taxes, tax evasion hasn't stopped me from wanting to shop on their site. Just like it hasn't stopped me laughing at Jimmy Carrs jokes. Or watching Nicholas Cage films (ok, maybe some of the newer ones!).
I had seen a couple of bloggers getting brilliant deals on Dainty Doll products, so naturally I was intrigued and headed straight over to Amazon. They had huge discounts on a lot of the range including the liquid foundations. I really wanted to try the light shade, but it was sold out so I went for medium with the hope that it would match. Thankfully it does - but more on that later. The other two items I bought were a lipstick in Saucy Sailor and a blusher in Lilac.
There are still a few items on sale, and some reduced even further! All of the lipsticks are under £2! Just search for Dainty Doll on the Amazon website and it'll all come up.

Some of the lighting is a bit off in the later photos as the sun was setting.

The outer packaging is lovely, I really enjoy getting things in little boxes! The design is very pretty and I like the illustration. The actual packaging of the make up is even nicer. Sleek black metal mostly, it feels really high end and sturdy. Always great if you're on the move and need to travel a lot.

The foundation has a pump which of course is great and the lid stays on well. It's perhaps a little too yellow for my skin tone, but only slightly. As I said before I would have preferred to try the light shade but this one works well enough. I'm wearing it in my last FOTD post if you'd like to see. It's medium coverage I'd say, with a semi-matte finish. It has SPF 15 which of course is a bonus. It claims to blend into the skin to provide a flawless finish (which foundation doesn't claim that?!), although it clings to my dry patches, as usual. I found it a bit more difficult to blend in than my usual foundation (Rimmel Match Perfection).
Overall I'm pleased with it and I'm happy there are brands dedicated to helping pale girls, but I am glad I didn't pay £21 for it! This only cost me £4.99.

Look how lovely that packaging is! This blusher only cost me £3.50, such a bargain. To be honest I wouldn't have bought this shade if it was full price as I was a bit of a gamble, what with it being lilac and all! I wanted to try something a bit different. Now, if I'm honest I look like a corpse when I wear this alone! I tried it with MUA Shade 1 blusher over the top and they blended in nicely together. I'm hoping to get some use of it, but we'll have to wait and see. They do still have some of the more normal colours on sale so you should go check it out if you're interested!

This lipstick, Saucy Sailor (£2.54) is my favourite purchase I must say. Is that really a surprise though? It's a beautiful, slightly glossy red. I'd say it leans towards being more orange than blue toned, although I always find it hard to tell! The packaging for this is also beautiful, black, gold and red look stunning together and I just love it!

Next, on to the swatches, first in direct sunlight then a cooler toned shot indoors.
As you can see the lilac doesn't show up all that well, it's just so light - such a cute colour though. I think the foundation looks better in the second photo, even though it's slightly blurred, it's a better representation of the colour - light, but slightly yellow.

This wasn't really a review, I just wanted to share with you my recent purchase. I'm impressed with the packaging and the quality is great, but I wouldn't pay full price for any of these items.

What do you think, do any of these products take your fancy?

  5. Great post. I actually read this before I received mine! Didn't get Saucy Sailor because I have far too many reds but it is a lovely shade.
I agree, I wouldn't pay full price either but the bargains felt so good!

    1. You got some lovely colours of lipstick! I couldn't help myself, I have too many reds as well though! When I bought these I don't think there were as many deals on other shades of lipstick...either that or I didn't look properly!
