Well...

Here I am again, starting yet another post with an apology about the lack of posts. This time it has been a year. Almost exactly. The truth is, I'm not that sorry at all. It has been a pretty hectic year by my standards anyway and my focus was not on writing. It would have make no sense to force myself to write just for the sake of it. I'm not going to make any promises or put pressure on myself to post here because that doesn't work for me. We shall just wait and see what happens in the future.

Until I feel inspired to write something more interesting, here's some more about me.

1.Do you have a middle name? Elizabeth (My initials are JEN)

2. What was your favourite subject in school? Art, also Craft and Design. They were the things I was best at.

3. What’s your favourite drink? Non-alcoholic - Dr. Pepper and Mango juice (not together). Alcoholic - Southern Comfort and Lemonade.

4. Favourite song at the moment? Slight Return - The Bluetones. Getting back into Britpop as I've been watching My Mad Fat Diary again.

5. What would you name your children? If I were to have children I would probably take forever to name them as I'm very indecisive. I have always liked the names Skye and Isla for a girl, quite like Alex and Rory for a girl too. Not sure on boys names anymore, change my mind all the time.

6. Do you participate in any sports? I pretty much hate exercise. Last week I went to a pole dancing class and I did like it. Although my arms have been in agony for about 4 days.

7. Favourite Book? Friends Like These - Danny Wallace.

8. Favourite Colour? Teal, Purple, then Black. Though I wear black more than anything.

9. Favourite Animal? Cats and Sloths.

10. Favourite perfume? Don't really wear perfume often, but Beyonce Heat is quite nice. I prefer musky scents. White Musk from The Body Shop is amazing too.

11. Favourite holiday? I couldn't pick just one, I've been lucky enough to go on several brilliant holidays over the years. Highlights would be Hong Kong, Toronto, Prague, New York, Salem, LA and Las Vegas. Florida is always so much fun as well.

Favourite Albums | Part 1

Time for something different, I feel I want to incorporate some of my other interests into my writing. I've become somewhat lax with my beauty followings recently. Be prepared to see more music, photography, fashion and travel posts here in the future.

Once again I have been very lazy in keeping this blog up to date with it being 5 months or so since my last post. A lot has been going on in my life, or so it feels. More on that later!

I've been planning this post in my head for the longest time. I really love talking to people about their music tastes and finding out what they are into. I used to love seeking out new and upcoming bands, but these days I'm more into really getting to know the music and the artists I've been listening to for years.
Don't get me wrong, I'm open to new music, though there's nothing better than hearing a song or even an entire album that takes you back to a specific time in your life; making you feel that nostalgia and the way you felt at that precise moment. Bliss. I have so many albums that remind me of people and places from the past and the present, as I'm sure we all do.
So that's exactly what I want to write about here, my favourite albums! I've narrowed it down to 30 odd - which means this is going to be a series of posts as I couldn't cram it all into one, that just wouldn't be fair.

Kicking things off with a popular one by The Killers, released 10 years ago, almost to the day, Hot Fuss. Really can't believe it's 10 years old, wow. It's their first album and was released June 7th 2004. This really is a flawless album, all the songs are fantastic in their own way. Some may say that Somebody Told Me and Mr. Brightside are overplayed, which is true but it doesn't take away from the fact they are brilliant songs.
This album reminds me of high school, specifically my 3rd and 4th year art class. Our teacher would let us bring in CDs to play and this was a favourite. So summery, it almost made it bearable to be in school and made me love art all the more.

Highlights - Jenny Was a Friend of Mine, Glamarous Indie Rock & Roll, and Smile Like You Mean It.

Now, this isn't a studio album, it's a compilation - the only one on my list, but I couldn't exclude it just because of that! It's Incesticide by Nirvana, which is a mixture of demos, covers and recordings from radio shows. Released December, 1992 when I was only 3.
This was one of the first albums by Nirvana (other that the obvious) that I really got into when I was about 12. My parents had always played them in the house, especially my mum (who was even lucky enough to see them, so envious), so I grew up listening to most of their albums (there are a few on this list).
What I love about the songs are how raw they are, I think the whole album encapsulates the vibe and the sound that was Nirvana. I won't say much more about this album, I just urge you to listen to it, especially if you're into Nirvana and you haven't given it a listen before.

Highlights - Molly's Lips, Son of a Gun, (New Wave) Polly and most importantly Mexican Seafood.

Grammy Awards 2014 | Favourite Dresses.

Sometimes I feel that the attendees of award shows are remembered for their fashion choices rather than the awards they are nominated for. I must say I am usually mostly excited to see what people are wearing, but it does depend on the award show. When it comes to the Grammys I'm never all that bothered about the awards, and looking through the list of winners I'm not all that inspired. Anyway, here are my favourite gowns of the evening. I don't like to post my least favourite as I think it's cruel and everyone has their own opinions!

Lets kick things off with Queen Bey. She looks stunning as ever in this Michael Costello lace creation. I absolutely love anything lace and this is so flattering. The sleeves are amazing and I love the whole shape of the dress. Doesn't she look fantastic?!

Wednesday Waffle Week 14 + 15 | Bloglovin, Gilmore Girls and JT (again).

Oops! Once again I've been naughty and messed up my schedule. Work and catching up with friends and family has distracted me from my blog. That being said I don't think I've been busier than usual - although I did get a haircut, eventually!

I'm going to do a quick round up of things I've been loving over the past couple of weeks.

Music.

Justin Timberlake - Mirrors/his entire back catalogue.
Paramore - Now.
Taylor Swift - 22.
Fall Out Boy - My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark.
Swedish House Mafia - Don't You Worry Child.

Films.

Untraceable. 7/10.
Red Dawn. - 7/10.

TV

Gilmore Girls - I'm actually obsessed, and I've only just started watching it.
The Walking Dead.

Books.

The Casual Vacancy by J. K. Rowling. - Just started this last night, I really like the way it's written and it's fun to see J. K. Rowling swearing and being rude.

Not sure if I've posted these photos before or not, but I wanted to include them anyway, just in case.

I'm becoming such a cat person!

How has everyone been, well I hope?! I'd love to hear some music or film recommendations, it's always nice to find out what other people are enjoying.

Wednesday Waffle Week 11 + 12 | Movies, Candy Crush + Birthdays.

Where has the time gone!? I know I'm forever complaining about time going too quickly, but it really is going by so fast.

Over the past couple of weeks I've been doing a lot of relaxing as well as catching up with old friends. There were two birthday parties at the weekend, as well as a birthday night out during the week. All of which were great fun, it was wonderful catching up with everyone. I also had a job interview last week, although I decided not to take the job as it was too far away and the public transport there was rubbish! Totally not worth it, I'll find something suitable soon I hope.

I'm slightly ashamed to admit it but I've been a bit obsessed with Candy Crush Saga on Facebook. I can't stop playing it. Even more annoyingly, I'm stuck on a level and I just can't get past it! Does anyone else get sucked into these games or apps?

Music-wise I'm still loving Lana Del Rey. I've not had very much time to sit and listen to music, but I did listen to a bit of Biffy Clyro and Kings of Leon while I was cleaning last week.
You can see just how much Lana I've been listening to here.

Karen and I went to the cinema on Sunday, we saw the new Die Hard film - A Good Day to Die Hard. It was so-so, nowhere near as good as any of the previous instalments, but I was expecting that from all the reviews I'd seen and heard from people. I'm pretty easily pleased when it comes to films so I didn't hate it, was just a little let down by the storyline and dialogue I think.
Kyle and I watched a few films, Mama, Life of Pi, The Impossible and The Long Kiss Goodnight.
Mama was very scary to begin with, but just turned into a sad story by the end. I was expecting it to be much scarier, don't get me wrong I did get a bit jumpy at bits, it just wasn't as scary as the film short it was based on!
Life of Pi was amazing, I don't need to talk about it much as I'm sure you've all heard the reviews and seen how many awards it has won. So visually stunning and well made, it's a must see.

Wednesday Waffle Week 6, 7 + 8 | Forgotten photographs, Stuart MacBride + Films.

It's been far too long since I've done one of these posts. As you can see from the title I've had to condense 3 weeks into one in order to catch up! Shocking Jenny, absolutely shocking. So, what have I been up to? Hmm, not a lot I must say. This week has been busier than the two previous.

I'm going to do a quick run down of my favourite moments from the last 3 weeks.

Kyle and I had out 3 year anniversary, we celebrated by going out for a meal in Bellini's then to Tickety Boo's for a couple of drinks. I must say that the meal was rather disappointing, the pizza I had was decent but Kyle did not enjoy his chicken dish. I had a French martini that was very tasty though, which almost made up for it!

We also went to see Stuart MacBride do a talk at Waterstones - we were lucky enough to meet him afterwards and I got one of my books signed. Super exciting! I was my usual awkward self, I had no idea what to say to him so he probably thought I was mental.
Afterwards I went out dancing with my lovely friend Jess, we had a great night! Once the club closed we went to the casino for food, they do the best cheese and ham toasties EVER.

My mum wanted to go see The Hobbit so I went with her, this was the 3rd time I'd seen it. I absolutely love it, it's so brilliant. I'm currently re-reading the book too.

It was my aunties 40th birthday a couple of Saturdays ago so my mum and I went to her house - she was having a sleepover with all of her friends. It was a lot of fun, we had curries, drank champagne, played Just Dance on the Wii and played a game where we had to guess which embarrassing stories belonged to who (we'd all written ours anonymously beforehand). It was a lot of fun, I just wish I hadn't been working all day otherwise I would have been more up for it.

I also went to the cinema with Kyle to see Movie 43, it was fun, silly and shockingly hilarious. It had it's ups and downs, but it's one of those films that you really shouldn't take seriously as it's not intended to be taken that way. I liked that there are a lot of pretty big actors and actresses in it and they were willing to do something that takes the piss a bit.

As usual here's my links if you want to see what I've been watching and listening to - IMDb + Last.fm

This wasn't going to be a long post, but it's turning out that way! I have trouble being succinct.

I didn't take too many photos this week. I have been organising my photos on my laptop so I've found a lot of random photos and nothing to do with them, so I thought I'd post them here :)

The Wednesday Waffle - Week 3 + 4 | Photos, Music and Shopping.

Warning: Very long post! :)

The past couple of weeks have been non-stop and pretty hectic. As usual I've mainly been working, everyone was out in force doing Christmas shopping and then sale shopping from Boxing Day onwards. The 27th was our busiest day, which was a little weird.
I had a wonderful Christmas which was spent with my family and my boyfriend. It was a great day, I saw lots of people and received so many wonderful gifts. I think everyone enjoyed the presents I got them too!

Boxing day I worked then went out for burgers and drinks with friends from school, was so nice to catch up with them. The burger I had was called the Texan Hat Burger, it had BBQ sauce, cheese, bacon and a hash brown. It was amaaaazing!

On Sunday (30th) I eventually had a day off and I could browse the sales, or what was left of them! I managed to get a few bits and pieces, although most of them weren't in the sales.
I'll do a haul on my recent purchases once my other packages arrive. I have one coming from ASOS and another from Daisy Street. There are some fantastic deals on this website, I really had to restrain myself from spending over £100! They have some amazing shoes, also if you like them on FB you get 10% off, unless you're buying sale items. I was cheeky and still tried to add it...

The Wednesday Waffle - Week 2 | Tumblr, Benefit + Taylor Swift.

Seasons greetings!
It's getting so close to Christmas, I still can't believe how quickly this year has gone. It's crazy!

This week has been a little quieter for me, mainly been working. Also trying to get the rest of my present shopping completed. Yesterday was very productive; I did lots of tidying and cleaning as well as present wrapping.
In the midst of all that I did my make-up with the little Benefit set I bought at the event last week. My next post will be about that, I love it!

You can see what lovely things I've been reblogging on Tumblr by clicking on the screenshots below...
