Wednesday Waffle Week 6, 7 + 8 | Forgotten photographs, Stuart MacBride + Films.

It's been far too long since I've done one of these posts. As you can see from the title I've had to condense 3 weeks into one in order to catch up! Shocking Jenny, absolutely shocking. So, what have I been up to? Hmm, not a lot I must say. This week has been busier than the two previous.

I'm going to do a quick run down of my favourite moments from the last 3 weeks.

Kyle and I had out 3 year anniversary, we celebrated by going out for a meal in Bellini's then to Tickety Boo's for a couple of drinks. I must say that the meal was rather disappointing, the pizza I had was decent but Kyle did not enjoy his chicken dish. I had a French martini that was very tasty though, which almost made up for it!

We also went to see Stuart MacBride do a talk at Waterstones - we were lucky enough to meet him afterwards and I got one of my books signed. Super exciting! I was my usual awkward self, I had no idea what to say to him so he probably thought I was mental.
Afterwards I went out dancing with my lovely friend Jess, we had a great night! Once the club closed we went to the casino for food, they do the best cheese and ham toasties EVER.

My mum wanted to go see The Hobbit so I went with her, this was the 3rd time I'd seen it. I absolutely love it, it's so brilliant. I'm currently re-reading the book too.

It was my aunties 40th birthday a couple of Saturdays ago so my mum and I went to her house - she was having a sleepover with all of her friends. It was a lot of fun, we had curries, drank champagne, played Just Dance on the Wii and played a game where we had to guess which embarrassing stories belonged to who (we'd all written ours anonymously beforehand). It was a lot of fun, I just wish I hadn't been working all day otherwise I would have been more up for it.

I also went to the cinema with Kyle to see Movie 43, it was fun, silly and shockingly hilarious. It had it's ups and downs, but it's one of those films that you really shouldn't take seriously as it's not intended to be taken that way. I liked that there are a lot of pretty big actors and actresses in it and they were willing to do something that takes the piss a bit.

As usual here's my links if you want to see what I've been watching and listening to - IMDb + Last.fm

This wasn't going to be a long post, but it's turning out that way! I have trouble being succinct.

I didn't take too many photos this week. I have been organising my photos on my laptop so I've found a lot of random photos and nothing to do with them, so I thought I'd post them here :)

NARS Blushers - Deep Throat + Orgasm | Reviews + Swatches.

This review has been a long time coming because I bought these about 3 months ago. I'd heard and read a lot about the Nars Blusher shade Orgasm and I desperately wanted to try it. At the time I bought it I didn't have anything else like it, now I have Candid Coral by Elf and Rose Gold by Sleek. They're not exact dupes but are similar.
When I got Orgasm I also picked up Deep Throat, both costing £21 and available here. The names always make me chuckle, they're so naughty haha! It's a similar shade of pink but with a lot less shimmer, so I think it's a lot more subtle. I'd also say that it's a slightly lighter pink than Orgasm.

Deep Throat.

Maybelline EyeStudio Gel Liner | Review + Swatches.

Gel liner is something I've been wanting to try for quite some time. I tend to use liquid liners mostly, I like the crisp, sharp line it creates but I wanted something else for doing smoky eyes and softer lines. This liner is perfect for that, it's the EyeStudio Gel Liner by Maybelline (£4.99). I got it in Black Chrome, it's black with tiny flecks of glitter, it's so pretty.
I was a bit annoyed when I opened the box it came in because as you will see in the photo below the bristles of the brush are bent out of shape. Boo! I'm not sure I like the brush very much though, an angled brush would be much better.

Little kitty cat update!
They're getting bigger now, well Sparky is anyway. Salem is still itty bitty, but her fur is much shinier than she used to be.

FOTD | Red Lips.

Another quick FOTD for you today. This is quite a simple look, bold lips and winged liner. I'd say it's my go-to make up really as it's simple, easy and classic!

Although saying that it takes me a while to get it just right, and a lot of products evidently!

Liebster Award #2 + #3.

I'm so excited! I've been nominated for another Liebster award. I didn't think I'd ever even get nominated for one! This time I was nominated by the lovely Taimar over at Sparkle and Monroe, thank you so much!
Since I've done this before I won't do the 11 random facts, I'll just answer her questions and link you to the other post!

FOTD | Colour Tattoo, Face Form + Naked Palette.

Hallo!
As usual I've been very naughty and I missed my Wednesday Waffle post...again! Grr, so annoyed with myself. I just keep forgetting what day it is. Does that happen to anyone else?

Here's a quick FOTD, I wanted to try out some of the new products I've bought recently. I'll list the products used below the photos.

Recently I've been loving gold, that's something a little unusual for me. Normally I'm not a lover of gold. I wanted to do something different with my eyes, something a bit messier and not so precise. I also wanted to try out some more cream shadows so I picked up one of the Maybelline Colour Tattoos in Eternal Gold. I used this as a base and worked in some Half Baked from the Naked palette into the crease. That's all I used and I used my finger mainly.

Rimmel Apocalips | Luna, Nova + Apocaliptic.

Finally, they're here!
I was really excited for Rimmels Apocaliptic lip lacquers to launch (alliteration FTW!). Which is a first for me, I've never been excited for a beauty product to come out before. Look what blogging has done to me! Being a lover of all things to do with stars and the universe etc I'm loving the names of the shades as well.

I had a rough idea of the shades I wanted, although saying that I think I may want them all eventually (except the pale ones, you'll see why later). Boots are doing them for 3 for 2 at the moment which is exciting and I may have to go get the rest of them and take advantage of the deal. These are priced at £5.99 a piece, I'd say that's about average for a high street lip product. The three shades I picked up are Nova, Luna and Apocaliptic. I keep thinking I picked up Celestial, but I didn't so I obviously need to go get that one as well, and Big Bang...and Stellar (isn't stellar just a fantastic word?!).

So what are these strange new lip products? Well as far as I can tell they are liquid lipstick. They are highly pigmented and pretty opaque, so that's a lipstick side of it I guess, but they have the consistency, shine and packaging of a gloss. Saying that, they aren't very sticky, they feel more creamy and not tacky.
One thing I don't like about these are that they settle in my dry patches and the lines of my lips really noticeably. It's a shame because I like them, I'll just need to exfoliate my lips better or wait until summer.

Photo time! Warning - there's a lot of them!

Beyoncé Heat Perfume Set | Review.

Ello, it's Monday again and we're reaching the end of January! How does the time fly by so quickly?

This post is about another present I got for Christmas, this time from Kyles aunt. Once again I am very lucky and wasn't expecting anything, what a lovely surprise! I'd actually been looking at this quite a while ago, but I'm never one to buy myself fragrances. It's the Heat by Beyoncé fragrance set. In it you get the bottle of perfume, an exfoliating shower gel and a body lotion with gold shimmer through it.

Sleek Face Form | Review + Swatches.

Hello! How is everyone this week, enjoying the snow, or lack of? It's been pretty snowy here, but not as much as other places. Outside it's bitterly cold and I'm enjoying cuddling up with tea and biscuits, dreading the idea of going out. This is inevitable though as I'm heading up to Kyles' parents for tea very soon!

Last week I was in Superdrug having a wee nosy...really I was looking for Sleeks Face Contouring Kit but I couldn't find it. I'd seen the review of it on Thunder & Threads and I so wanted to give it a try! Highlighting and contouring are things I always skip when doing my make up as I tend to forget if I'm honest. I also didn't have anything to contour with, hence the reason I was seeking out the little duo.
So I discovered that my Superdrug doesn't stock it....as far as I'm aware, but they do stock Face Form (£10), which is a palette  with 3 different sections (like their Blush by 3 palettes). It has the contour powder, a highlighter as well as a blush in Rose Gold. It's a really handy little palette to have, especially if you travel a lot - it even has a mirror in the lid. It's basically the Face Contour Kit (£6.49) and you get a blusher for £3.51 instead of £4.49.
The palette comes in four different shades, Fair, Light, Medium and Dark. The two darker shades come with bronzers instead of blushers.

Contour.
Now I don't know a lot about contouring so please bear with me here!
I really like it and I feel that it's easy to blend, which was a concern I had. Another concern I had was that it was going to be too dark for me. I bought the Light palette as they didn't have the Fair one in stock, I figured Light would work just as well but when I opened it and really thought about it it did look a bit dark. Not to worry though, I was pleasantly surprised when I tried it out! I find it blends beautifully and doesn't look silly on my pale skin. Phew! I will say I did use a very light hand when applying this as I was a little scared by it so once I get used to it I think it will look a bit better. I will do a FOTD post featuring this palette soon, promise.
Swatches to follow.

Highlighter.
This is a lovely shimmery highlighter, I really enjoy wearing this. There is minimal fallout which is great. I have an Elf highlighter that is very similar to this but it goes everywhere and is a bit of a nightmare to control. So this is a much better alternative! The Sleek one is more subtle as well and has a more natural glow to it. It just depends on what your personal preference is.

Blusher.
Rose Gold is a blush I hadn't seen before. I don't tend to look at the blushers very often as I feel I have plenty to get through at the moment. This one is gorgeous though! I'm actually really glad this one is included in the palette. I'd say it's similar to Orgasm by Nars, the colour is almost the same, but it has more gold shimmer running through it. It's absolutely amazing, eeee! Can you tell I've had a lot of sugar today?!

L-R - Contour, Highligher, Rose Gold Blusher. (Probably didn't need to be labelled, haha).

Christmas Goodies | YSL Touche Eclat + Lancome Hypnose Drama.

My lovely, thoughtful boyfriend bought me some amazing gifts for Christmas! I realise I'm a bit late with this post, but I wanted to leave it a while and give the products (or most of them) a good try first.

The first thing I got was something I'd been lusting over for around a year, Touche Eclat by YSL (£25). I don't tend to use highlighters, but this one is amazing. The gold pen looks amazing, it's so luxurious! Clicking the button is so satisfying, haha. I tend to use it under my eyes, over foundation and concealer, this helps brighten them that little bit extra. I also use it on my cheekbones and cupids bow. It gives your skin a beautiful glow which looks really natural. I'm not a huge fan of really sparkly or shimmery highlighters so this is absolutely perfect for me. Kyle got me Shade 2 which is the lightest one I believe.

My Hair History | 2005 - Present.

My hair has changed a lot over the years, as yours has too I'm sure. When I was younger my mum used to cut my hair, I say younger, she cut it last year as well. I usually just want a trim anyway so it's nothing too drastic. I also dyed it a lot, I still do now, just not as frequently.

I just wanted to share a few different styles and colours I had. None of them are great, but it's fun to see how things have changed over the years.

Golden Globes | My Favourite Gowns.

There have been I couple of posts like this that I've seen today and I love reading them! Did you watch the GG's? I just watched it tonight with Kyle.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are amazing, hilarious, talented women and I really couldn't wait to see them host it. I knew they'd be so funny! Their dresses were stunning too, I especially loved Tina's.

Seeing everyone's dresses just makes it even more exciting! There was  a fair bit of variety, but it was mainly floor length gowns, and they were stunning.
I wanted to put together some of my favourites from the evening.

Hair Care | Haul + Reviews.

I've always been terrible at looking after my hair, I just seem to forget about it and it tends to get neglected. I hope I'm not the only person who does this!? I like to shower or bathe at night and if I wash my hair (I only have to do it roughly once a week, thank goodness!) I tie it up and leave it to dry. No brushing or anything, unless I really have to. That's something I need to invest in, a decent brush!
My hair has a natural wave to it and it's very, very thick so I can leave it and it doesn't look too bad.
I don't tend to brush it all that often, unless it really needs it. One thing I really need to do is get it trimmed as the ends are getting pretty dry. They aren't as split as they usually are though which makes a change! To counteract the dryness I wanted to get a deep conditioner for it and I've always been a fan of Aussie, when I saw there was a deal on their products in Boots I was excited. You could get any 3 items for £10, which is great considering they are around £5 each usually!

I got the 3 Minute Miracle Deep Treatment, Aussome Volume 2in1 Shampoo/Conditioner and their Dual Personality heat protector and texutrising spray. I must say the 3 Minute Miracle really works and is an actual miracle. It's brilliant and smells glorious, like peaches and summertime! That's one of my favourite things about Aussie as a brand, their products always smell amazing. Although I feel that the 2in1 shampoo/conditioner doesn't smell as fantastic as their other things, which is a bit odd and a slight let down. I doubt I'll repurchase.

MAC Venomous Villains - Bite of an Apple Blusher | Review.

This is a blusher I've had for a few months now, as usual I've just been lazy with my reviews! I picked this up brand new from ebay for £18. Probably a little more than I was willing to pay but it's my first MAC blusher and I absolutely adore the packaging. I was a little late in hearing about this collection (it came out in 2010 I believe) and I was really disappointed, I'd seen lots of these products in make-up collection videos on YouTube and I really wanted some for myself.
This blusher is called Bite of an Apple and it features the Evil Queen from Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I would have loved to get most of the Maleficent collection, I think it had the most beautiful colours and packaging. The nail polishes look especially stunning! Maybe I'll hunt them down sometime.

No 7 Stay Perfect Nail Polish | Review.

I've got quite a few things lined up to write about, I really need to get organised and get around to doing it! More of the posts will be about Christmas presents that I wanted to try out for a while before I made any judgement on them.

These mini nail polishes came in a set that I bought as part of the 3 for 2 gift offers that are always on around Christmas time. I love it, they always have so many cosmetic sets to choose from. Saying that, I found it hard to spot anything I really, really wanted. I decided on this little set as I don't have the largest collection of nail polishes and I wanted to expand on the colours I have. These mini bottles are the perfect size at 4ml, I never finish a whole bottle of polish before it goes all gloopy and I have to bin it, so I'm always looking for minis to try out.

This set was £10. The price is really decent considering that a full size single nail polish costs £6 alone. Not sure if this set is still available any more, it was probably a Christmas exclusive. Other sets may be available in stores.
UPDATE (15/01/13): This set is on sale for £5 at the moment!
The set came with 4 polishes, I thought the colours were perfect for Christmas and New Year which is why I was drawn to them. You can see below the colours I wore for Christmas day.

Damson Dream looks very purple here, but it's more red on the nail.

Wednesday Waffle - Week 5 | Fender Mag, Wardrobe Organisation + Sale Shopping.

This post almost didn't happen because I forgot it was Wednesday today! I cannot actually believe it's the second week of 2013 already, it's bizarre. To me it almost doesn't feel like Christmas or New Year even happened, everything is still moving so fast.

Over the past week I've been enjoying reading all the blog posts about 2012 Favourites, whether they're about beauty or things like TV and film.
These are a few of my favourites,

Miss Holly - the best of 2012 | make up
Thunder & Threads - Best of 2012 | TV, Film, Music & More...
Essie-Button - 2012 Beauty Favourites.
Beauty & Baggage - 2012 Favourites.
Beauty Crush | 2012 Through my lens.

I also happened upon this very cute page on BuzzFeed.com  - just look how adorable these hedgehogs are! My favourites are 2, 3, 12, 17, 19 and 20. They're all adorable really.

The weather has been very changeable this week, mainly cloudy but the sun was shining today despite it still being chilly. A couple of nights ago I looked out of the window and it was misty, I love when it's like that, I think it's so eerie and atmospheric.

Liebster Award.

I'm so excited to say that the wonderful Rachel over at Stellar Skin has nominated me for a Liebster Award. Since I got back into blogging I noticed a few people getting nominated for this award and I hoped that one day I would be too, I just didn't expect it to be so soon! Thank you so much Rachel, I really appreciate it and I'm excited to answer your questions. At the bottom I've listed all the blogs I've nominated, you really should check them out as well as Stellar Skin, they're all fantastic! :)

NYE | OOTD+FOTD

I'm a wee bit late with this posting of this look. This was from New Years Eve, I didn't have big plans for during the day, just did a little bit of shopping in preparation for the little get together we were having at night. So I didn't get very dressed up for the daytime, and laziness and bad time keeping meant I didn't get changed for the evening!

There aren't really any photographs of my outfit as I simply couldn't get any that were remotely flattering. I really need to get my tripod from my mums, or rope Kyle into taking photos (hint hint).

I just went for a navy metallic liner. To do this I used the liner from my Famous palette with the dark blue shade from a Rimmel trio. This is a clear liner that you can use with eye shadow to turn into a liner, which I love! I've never found anything like it since, although saying that I've not looked hard! I tried to look for the palette online but to no avail.

Blusher - MUA Shade 2
Lips - Elf Matte Lip colour in Natural.
Mascara - Lancome Hypnose Drama (post on this soon).
Foundation - Rimmel Match Perfection Shade 010.
Eyes - Rimmel 698 Modern Blues (I think!)

The Wednesday Waffle - Week 3 + 4 | Photos, Music and Shopping.

Warning: Very long post! :)

The past couple of weeks have been non-stop and pretty hectic. As usual I've mainly been working, everyone was out in force doing Christmas shopping and then sale shopping from Boxing Day onwards. The 27th was our busiest day, which was a little weird.
I had a wonderful Christmas which was spent with my family and my boyfriend. It was a great day, I saw lots of people and received so many wonderful gifts. I think everyone enjoyed the presents I got them too!

Boxing day I worked then went out for burgers and drinks with friends from school, was so nice to catch up with them. The burger I had was called the Texan Hat Burger, it had BBQ sauce, cheese, bacon and a hash brown. It was amaaaazing!

On Sunday (30th) I eventually had a day off and I could browse the sales, or what was left of them! I managed to get a few bits and pieces, although most of them weren't in the sales.
I'll do a haul on my recent purchases once my other packages arrive. I have one coming from ASOS and another from Daisy Street. There are some fantastic deals on this website, I really had to restrain myself from spending over £100! They have some amazing shoes, also if you like them on FB you get 10% off, unless you're buying sale items. I was cheeky and still tried to add it...

2012 | Beauty Favourites.

Here are my favourite products of 2012. I've been getting into make up and beauty a lot more this year, eventually! I've never really been one of those girls that takes ages to get ready, or to spend money on beauty products, but I'd really like to take more pride in my appearance for many reasons. Mainly because it makes me feel more confident and lifts my mood!

I've split everything into categories, each category has winner (or two, I'm so fickle!)

Foundation.
Rimmel Match Perfection - Shade 010.

I just love this foundation, it's everything I've been looking for; a decent price, nice packaging, medium coverage, a shade that actually matches my skin, a nice smell, and is readily available!
Full review here.

Lipstick.
Kate Moss for Rimmel Matte Collection - Shade 111.

I'm in love with matte lipstick, especially red matte lipstick and this one is gorgeous! I think this whole collection is perfection and I hope that they bring out more colours this year!

2012 | A Round Up.

2012 has been a strange year for me. There have been lots of ups and downs, more downs than usual for me. I do have a lot of major highlights of this year which makes up for the lows, here are a few...

Moving in with my boyfriend.
Seeing the Chili Peppers live again and spending a weekend in Newcastle with Kirsty
Going to see Ed Sheeran and The Vaccines with my mum.
My birthday weekend and Maximo Park in Glasgow with Kyle.
Getting two lovely little kittens for my birthday.
Keeping up with my blog and finding something I'm passionate about again.
Seeing a ton of amazing films including Dark Knight Rises in IMAX. See the list HERE.

I have a few resolutions, they mainly revolve around being healthier and eating properly. I'm a sucker for crisps, chocolate and cheese (not all at once, I promise!). The deadly C's haha. I'd also love to be able to keep up with this blog and organise my time better, I can be very lazy and last minute with things. Keeping a positive attitude will really help too.
It's been really inspirational to read everyone else's new years posts about resolutions, still reading through them at the moment. I'll be doing a post about my favourite beauty products from the year.

Thanks to my followers who take the time to read my blog and to those who comment, it really makes my day! Have a great year everyone. :)
