Wednesday Waffle Week 11 + 12 | Movies, Candy Crush + Birthdays.

Where has the time gone!? I know I'm forever complaining about time going too quickly, but it really is going by so fast.

Over the past couple of weeks I've been doing a lot of relaxing as well as catching up with old friends. There were two birthday parties at the weekend, as well as a birthday night out during the week. All of which were great fun, it was wonderful catching up with everyone. I also had a job interview last week, although I decided not to take the job as it was too far away and the public transport there was rubbish! Totally not worth it, I'll find something suitable soon I hope.

I'm slightly ashamed to admit it but I've been a bit obsessed with Candy Crush Saga on Facebook. I can't stop playing it. Even more annoyingly, I'm stuck on a level and I just can't get past it! Does anyone else get sucked into these games or apps?

Music-wise I'm still loving Lana Del Rey. I've not had very much time to sit and listen to music, but I did listen to a bit of Biffy Clyro and Kings of Leon while I was cleaning last week.
You can see just how much Lana I've been listening to here.

Karen and I went to the cinema on Sunday, we saw the new Die Hard film - A Good Day to Die Hard. It was so-so, nowhere near as good as any of the previous instalments, but I was expecting that from all the reviews I'd seen and heard from people. I'm pretty easily pleased when it comes to films so I didn't hate it, was just a little let down by the storyline and dialogue I think.
Kyle and I watched a few films, Mama, Life of Pi, The Impossible and The Long Kiss Goodnight.
Mama was very scary to begin with, but just turned into a sad story by the end. I was expecting it to be much scarier, don't get me wrong I did get a bit jumpy at bits, it just wasn't as scary as the film short it was based on!
Life of Pi was amazing, I don't need to talk about it much as I'm sure you've all heard the reviews and seen how many awards it has won. So visually stunning and well made, it's a must see.

Oscars 2013 | My Favourite Gowns.

Did anyone else watch the Oscars last night? Kyle and I stayed up until 1.30am to watch and they were on until 5am, but I'm not working today so it's alright, I got to sleep in. We also watched a little of the Red Carpet beforehand, it was great hearing the interviews and seeing what everyone was wearing!
First off I thought Seth MacFarlane was an odd choice as host, maybe they wanted the ceremony to come across more light hearted. Which they did succeed in doing, but it seemed a little forced. I'm not a huge fan of Seth if it's not Family Guy related. I did enjoy Daniel Radcliffe and JGL's singing and dancing, but that's about it.

Anyway, on to the dresses! I'm not going to do any worst dressed choices because I don't think it's very nice and there are plenty of websites and magazines that will have lists like that.

Just a warning, I do not own any of these images, they are mainly from Getty and Wire images.

FamousX Eyeshadow Palette - The Leopard | Review + Swatches.

Hello! Sorry for the absence, it's been a busy couple of weeks and I've not managed to write as much as I would normally like to, even with 5 days holiday from work!

This purchase was a spur of the moment kind of buy. I was reading one of Tattooed Tealady's Beauty on a Budget posts - here. One of the palettes stood out to me the most, the Leopard eyeshadow palette by FamousX. I decided I had to have it! At that point in time I was having a slight eyeshadow obsession phase. I saw that it was half price on their website, down from £8.99 to £4.49. I couldn't believe it, such amazing value! It was great value to begin with, but 16 shadows for £4.49, who could resist?! It's back up to full price now, but I assure you, it's worth it.

Surprisingly (for the price), the pigmentation and colour range it outstanding. It truly is, you'll see what I mean from the photos. There is a wide range of shades including burgundy, deep blue, green and a good variance of browns. It was the more unusual shades that got my attention, they are great for creating smokey eye looks that are something a bit different. I tend to go for very neutral colours like browns and greys, but this palette makes me want to try others! There are shimmery shadows as well as a few matte. You really have everything you need from dark crease shades to beautiful highlighting ones.
Be prepared for a lot of photos!

Look at those beautiful colours!

Daddys Little Girl Ain't a Girl No More | Photography by Hedi Slimane ft. Frances B Cobain.

Hey! Today I want to share with you one of my favourite sets of photographs ever. They are by Hedi Slimane, he's a fashion designer who also does photography. He shoots portraits, usually in black and white. Slimane has worked for Dior and now YSL, he also photographed Lady Gaga for The Fame Monster album cover. If you want to see more of his work you can check out his website. To learn more about him, see here. He seems like a fascinating and inspirational person.

On to the photographs I mentioned earlier. They are a series of portraits of Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love for those of you who might not know. They are from July 2011 and I've been in awe of them ever since.
She is absolutely beautiful, as you might imagine. Her eyes are so stunning and her style is bloody amazing! I also think her eyebrows are perfect. Girl crush alert!
I won't go into any more detail, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Maybelline - The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara | Review.

Good morning! How is everyone today? I hope your week is off to a great start! I'm enjoying mine so far, I have 5 days holiday off work. Really needing it, I just worked 7 days straight and it felt like the longest week ever.
This week I will be spending time relaxing, catching up with people and a bit of cleaning too! Blogging as well, can't forget that! :)

Here's another purchase from a couple of weeks ago. It's always nice to test out products a few times before doing a review, I find. This product is the newest mascara from Maybelline, it's got a long name, as usual! here goes...The Rocket Volum' Express Mascara. I must say I avoided it for quite some time, I wasn't fond of the packaging and I thought I wouldn't like it. I like the colour combination, but just not for a mascara. That might just be me, I'm not sure. However, after seeing some wonderful reviews of it I couldn't resist for long!

It was compared to They're Real! by Benefit, and that's honestly what swung it for me. Plus the fact it was on offer for £5.99 in Superdrug at the time (I'm unsure what the normal price is, £8.99 maybe). I hate spending an obscene amount of money on mascara (for example £18.50 on They're Real!). I have a sample of said Benefit mascara and I love it, as most people do, and I fully intended to get a full sized one when my sample runs out but now I feel I don't need to. That's how well the Maybelline Rocket performs, the plastic/rubber bristles separate lashes wonderfully and add a lot of length as well as volume. The black is very black too. At first I found the feel of the wand a little weird on my lashes as the bristles are short, you get used to this very quickly.
I've seen some absolutely horrible reviews on the Maybelline website, mainly complaining about clumping and the brush. I must say I disagree with both of these things. I have no problem with clumping, and while the brush is a little odd it does get easier to use after two or three uses! The only thing I have a problem with is removal, it seems like a waterproof mascara even though it isn't. This wouldn't be a problem for most people but I'm not really a fan of waterproof anything as I like to be able to remove it easily. Especially mascara. So I probably need a better make up remover, but I'm waiting for Bioderma to come to the UK. Hopefully it will be soon!

B. Lipstick + Eyeshadow | Review + Swatches.

At the end of January I was perusing the aisles of Superdrug and I noticed there was a new addition to the make up aisle. It had just launched that very day and the brand is called B. No doubt you'll have seen the range by now.
I had a field day, I was swatching away for a good 10 minutes. It was fantastic because all the testers were brand new, how exciting! I was the first person to swatch most of the lipsticks and eyeshadows. There was an introductory offer on where there was £2 off all the products. I decided to pick up two products, I must say I was very tempted by many more things, I refrained!

The first item I bought was a Rich Intense Colour lipstick (of course) in the colour Eton Mess - £7.99 (I bought it for £5.99) It took me a really long time to decide which one I like most, they are all lovely! Out of the whole range I was most impressed by their lipsticks.
I think it was the name that made my mind up, Eton Mess is one of my favourite desserts.

Wednesday Waffle Week 10 | Lana, Tumblr + Spending Ban.

Happy Wednesday everyone! Has is been a good week for you so far?

It's been snowing today, finally! It's actually laying and I love it. Sure, I won't love it at 8am tomorrow when I have to trudge through it on my way to work. No doubt it'll be ice by that point, I'll have my trusty Dr. Martens on though. I wore them today and it was a huge help.

This week I've been getting into Lana Del Rey, something I never thought would happen. I really didn't like her voice and thought she was a bit depressing. She is, but in a good way, if there is such a thing!
My favourite song is Summertime Sadness, it's been stuck in my head all week, that's when you know.
She's so beautiful, but I still prefer how she looks pre-surgery, it's so strange seeing the differences in her face. I'd love to recreate some of her make-up looks, they are really simple but absolutely gorgeous. I've seen a couple of cut-crease make up looks inspired by her style on here.

We've become regulars at the Tickety Boo's pub quiz, this week Kyles family came along, it was a lot of fun. This week we were second last, no wooden spoon for us! Instead it was Kyles brother and his girlfriend who came in last, despite getting a couple of really tough questions right! Everyone had a laugh though which was the main thing.

As usual you can have a peek into my brain and the things I tend to daydream about on my personal Tumblr.

At the moment I'm on a bit of a spending ban, I feel that I've been way too much money recently. Not even on anything in particular (maybe some make up, but not a lot!) and I have no idea where it's all going. I do have a few things lined up to review, so they'll be coming up over the next few days.
I'll probably be 'shopping my stash' more over the next few weeks though. I gots bills!

What are your plans for tomorrow? I'm not entirely sure what Kyle and I are doing, hopefully going to see Die Hard. He hinted that he may have booked tickets already, but I don't really know! It's also a colleagues birthday so we may head out for that. I've got work early on Friday though. Boo.

Speaking of films I went to see Flight this week. It's brilliant, I can't recommend it highly enough. Denzels performance is so compelling, and I can see why he's up for an Oscar for this role. It's produced and directed by Rober Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Cast Away, The Frighteners, Contact, Forrest Gump).  There have been lots of very harsh reviews about this film, and I don't agree with a single one. Sure, I am pretty easily pleased when it comes to films, but still. I enjoyed it, it was exciting, terrifying, and emotional all at the same time. I suck at doing plot summaries, so here's the IMDb page.

I also enjoyed the season premier of The Walking Dead, I'd been missing it so much! Do you watch it?

And here's a photo of Sparky - just because he looks very handsome here. Did I mention we found out he's a boy? Oops. We're hoping he doesn't have a complex because of all the "Good girl" and "Aw, such a pretty little girl" comments!
He's so dusty in this photo, haha!

Poor broken whisker!

What have you all been up to this week? Is it snowing where you are?

I'm going to be going a giveaway when I reach 100 followers, so keep an eye out for that over the next few weeks or so! Excited :)

FOTD | Famous Palette, Rimmel + B.

You know when you think you're trying something new and it ends up being exactly the way you normally do it? Maybe it's just me, but I thought I was trying something a little different with my eye make up here but it just looks like everything else I've ever posted! So I've promised myself, and now you, that I'll be going out of my comfort zone and pushing for something a bit different this week! I must be stuck in a rut, I've got the hang of this kind of eye, but I must move on!
Please excuse the slightly dopey expressions as per usual.

Lipstick Tag | Revlon, Rimmel + MAC.

L-R - Back Row - Revlon Mauve It Over, Really Red + Black Cherry. Middle Row - MAC Shy Girl, Russian Red + Hang Up. Front Row - Rimmel 101, 111 + 107.

1. When you were a child, did you use your mother's lipsticks?

I did once or twice. My mum tends to wear brown lipsticks or dark ones and as a child they never really appealed to me. Saying that I do remember trying them on.

2. How old were you when you bought your first lipstick?

I must have been about 10, I got a little set of minis (no idea where from) that I loved and they were all different colours. I mainly remember there being a couple of frost finish ones.

3. Pink or red lipstick?

Red, hands down!

4. The most expensive lipstick you have ever bought?

My Chanel lipstick, it was £25, but I got it on sale for £22.50.

5. And the cheapest?

Any of the ones from MUA or the BC ones from Bodycare.
You can see the cheapest ones I own in the photo below. None of them cost more than £2.50.

6. Do you use a lip brush to apply your lipstick?

Nah, I'm too lazy for that. I've always meant to try it though! It would really be a good idea though as I don't have the steadiest hand.

7. If you had to recommend a lipstick, which brand would you recommend and why?

Probably Rimmel or Revlon, they both have a great range of colours and finishes. The quality is brilliant, the price is affordable and they tend to be on offer in Boots of Superdrug.

I tag everyone! :)

50 Random Facts About Me | Tag.

I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon with the 50 random facts tag while I remembered. Is it a tag, I'm not sure...Wish me luck, I probably won't be able to think of 50!

38. Reading about murders, serial killers and death in general is fascinating. I also love watching documentaries about it, especially if it's about Gacy, Bundy, or Manson. Weird, I know. Valentines Day Outfit | Motel, Tatty Devine + Jeffrey Campbell x BlackMilk.

Since Valentines Day is coming up I wanted to try and put together an outfit that I think would be pretty for a date or even just a night out. I wanted the shoes to stand out the most and work around them. I've been loving these Jeffrey Campbell x Blackmilk babies for months and months now, aren't they amazing?!
The Debolina peplum dress is from Motel, I absolutely love the colour of it and that it's off the shoulder. The beautiful wine colour of the dress goes well with navy (in my opinion anyway...) so I paired it with this vintage Jean Paul Gaultier cropped leather jacket and chunky necklace from Tory Burch. Both of these colours are present in the galaxy print on the shoes so I think it all ties together nicely. The earrings are from Tatty Devine, these add a cute but still quirky edge to the accessories.
You can also see this look on my Pinterest board.

What do you think? This is my first time putting an outfit together in this format so I hope it looks alright!

MUA Matte Perfect Foundation + Pro-Brow Kit | Review.

MUA is a brand that I rate very highly, they are affordable, readily available and darn good quality if you ask me! I don't tend to have any problems with them at all.
Here's the thing though, they suck at foundation shades. Now I'm aware there's not many drugstore brands that cater for very pale girls or very dark girls so I know they're not the only ones. To label this foundation as Fair though is ridiculous! It's barely even light. It also claims to be matte, and that it controls shine, which it does not. The somewhat embarrassing photo further down demonstrates this. This was a few minutes after I applied it by the way, I thought I'd give it time to sink in but it didn't. Perhaps if I'd left it a few more minutes it would have been fine but who has that long to sit about waiting for their foundation to dry?!
I can't complain too much as I did expect this to happen and it only cost £2, but I wanted to put this information out there so perhaps some other people won't waste a couple of quid. This foundation will be given a new home asap, I'm sure one of my friends might be able to use it. Megan, I'm looking at you!

Wednesday Waffle Week 9 | Pub Quiz, Bob Ross + Pizza.

Hello! Once again I missed Wednesday completely. This time it was for good reason though, I was feeling pretty under the weather yesterday. I went to bed at half 7 last night!

So, what have I been up to this week? To be honest, not a lot. Eating pizza, watching films and sleeping when I'm not at work.
Saturday involved visiting my friend, ordering pizza from Dominos (and waiting 2 hours for it!), and watching 3 hours of New Girl.
We also watched a film called Brick, featuring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It's hard to describe, it's set in a high school but the film is stylised like an old detective movie. There's lots of fast-paced conversations, shady characters and atmospheric music throughout. To be honest I would have preferred to watch something more light hearted, the films I brought included Clueless and Bring It On so you can see what frame of mind I was in! I sort of enjoyed it nonetheless, I'm sure I would have liked it more if my mood was different.

Winter Shoes | H+M, Doc Martens + Primark.

Hello!

Has everyone had an enjoyable weekend? I've been working away and tidying the house, but I relaxed a bit this evening which has been lovely.

Just wanted to do a quick post today as it's been a few days and I'm working a lot over the coming week. I've been aiming to do more fashion/clothing related posts as it's something I'm really interested in and I have a lot of clothes and shoes etc!
I want to share with you all the shoes I've been wearing the most over the past couple of months. The weather has been pretty gross here as you can imagine or perhaps you've experienced it too! Lots of rain, snow and general coldness. So my footwear has had to be able to cope with all that. Basic requirements include decent grip on the sole, they must be cosy (with room for extra sockage!) and black (as it goes with absolutely everything).
Here are my Top 3!

My newest pair of shoes, I got these about 3 weeks ago from H&M online for £29.99. I was going to post a link to the website but I can't find them on there any more! They are very chunky and 90s, which a lot of people may not like but I love them. Easy to walk in, fantastic grip, easy to get on and off, as well as decently priced!
